For over 20 years, we have specialised in treatment for natural conception and assisted conception, as well as related conditions such as recurrent miscarriage and pregnancy complications.
We have seen over 15,000 couples and have assisted patients through over 10,000 cycles of IVF and have built up a strong knowledge base and good relationships with the majority of leading IVF units and fertility clinics. While taking a holistic view and using traditional diagnostic tools, we operate in an integrated way, working alongside consultants and using Western diagnostic approaches, blood tests results and reports to help us with treatment.
Fertility medicine has many ‘grey’ areas and leading consultants frequently have conflicting views on diagnosis and how to address treatment. We are able to discuss all potential options, not only the ones that we provide at the clinic, so clients have a good understanding of all their choices. We believe that the more patients know, the more able they are to make the informed choices that will get them to their goal as quickly as possible.
Around half of the couples we see at the clinic are looking to conceive naturally. Some have started trying relatively recently and others may have already explored other options. Some patients are looking to conceive their first child, while others may be having difficulties having subsequent children. For female patients, the Chinese medicine approach will take a detailed look at the menstrual cycle in order to identify where improvements can be made. In conjunction with blood tests, scan results or Western diagnosis this leads us to a treatment plan. Similarly for men, the overall health is looked at to see what impact it is having on the quality of the sperm production. In practical terms we will see a number of recognised conditions in the clinic, including:
Acupuncture is the most commonly used adjunctive therapy to IVF with many clinics recommending it alongside treatment. A 2018 HFEA report said acupuncture is used in over a quarter of all IVF cycles. Used predominantly to increase success rates, it can also been useful in helping support couples as they go through what can be a challenging the process. While acupuncture works to aid implantation rates and subsequent healthy pregnancies in IVF, other assisted conception treatments, IUI and donor egg cycles can be supported in a similar way. Fertility treatment can be a uniquely stressful experience. Both acupuncture and your acupuncturist can help support you through the process and help manage the stress levels.
In the clinic, we have seen thousands of clients for gynaecological and fertility issues and consider this to be our specialist area. We also try to offer advice and guidance where possible and will work alongside consultants frequently. We do not offer any birth control treatments at the clinic.
